World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA)

WAZA is the unifying organisation for the world zoo and aquarium community. More than 300 members are leading zoos, aquariums, associations, affiliate organisations and corporate partners from around the world.The goal of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums is to guide, encourage and support the zoos, aquariums and like-minded organisations of the world in animal care and welfare, environmental education and global conservation.WAZA is a founding member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and an association member of the International Species Information System.

It is the aim of WAZA to further increase the number of zoos and aquariums involved in the conservation of wild species and habitats and to make zoological institutions the primary non-governmental field conservation organisations.Begawan Foundation is proud to be a new partner with WAZA.


Species360 (known as International Species Information System) is a global non-profit, non-governmental, membership-based organization dedicated to systematically gathering and sharing zoological information about the animals and species in their members’ collective care.
Species360 provides its members with zoological data collection and sharing software called ZIMS - the Zoological Information Management System. Species360 global database for the zoological community contains information on 2.6 million animals -- 10,000 species -- and is constantly growing.

IUCN - ASAP (Asian Species Action Partnership)

The Asian Species Action Partnership is an IUCN SSC initiative aimed at reversing the declines in the wild of Species On The Brink of extinction – Critically Endangered freshwater and terrestrial vertebrates in Southeast Asia.

Together the BirdLife Partnership forms the leading authority on the status of birds, their habitats and the issues and problems affecting bird life.
